The All in ONE Dog

You CAN have it all. Brains, Beauty, Conformation, Comedian, Friend, Companion, Hunter, Working, Agility

These dogs are great family pets. Our dogs are our family. Eager to go, eager to please, yet they are still couch potatoes. We have had a lot of fun and enjoyment with our family. Although they are raised inside the house, they also have 6 acres to play, dig, chase, and run on. However, most of the time they are on the couch.

I had a Rat Terrier when I was a child. When I grew up and wanted my own dog, I could not remember the type of dog she was. So I searched for almost 20 years(OK, maybe it was 30, I’m no spring chicken!) before I discovered my dream dog was a Rat Terrier. Well, as you can expect , I went out and found my dog Tootsie. The breed type was just as I remembered, smart, fun, loving and agile. What I love most about Rat Terriers is that they are GREAT family dogs. I will never be without one.

After a while we decided to get our next Rat Terrier. We decided to name him King Louie. The two dogs got along great. When Louie was about two years old we entered him in a local dog show. We thought it would be fun and didn't expect much. To our astonishment-- HE WON!!!. It was so great--- we had the first Grand Champion Rat Terrier on the west coast. He was #4 on the Top Ten List in UKC for 2001.

Louie has now passed on.

As a breeder and a lover of Miniature and Standard Rat Terriers in California. We are out to breed the best and healthiest dogs/ puppies that we can by being a breeder we strive to breed for conformation for I believe that when you breed for conformation you will have a healthier happier dog in the long run. Lets see how long it takes someone to steal that from my web site. OK I'm bad. We show our dogs and attend Go to Ground and Terrier Races with them. (And anything else we can think of!) Besides being great competitors, they also make great working dogs and companions. Let me show you what I mean. These pictures show how they are raised, loved and cared for. And pictures tell all

We ended up having so much fun at the dog show and other events, that we started a local Rat Terrier Club. It has been a Blast!!!! We have truly enjoyed all the people, the help, the laughs and the fun. (And the laughs again) I believe everything happens for a reason. So, I think this club was meant to be. The Central Valley Rat Terrier Club has grown and become so much a part of our family. It has been a great teaching and learning experience for everyone. We all seem to help each other as much as we can. We put on events we call "fun days". We camp-out and have lots of fun events like ball toss, terrier races, lure coursing, agility games, go to ground and any other game that will keep the dogs AND us entertained.

Next we kept our Prince Louie, the little guy that stole my husband’s heart. Prince is turning out to be a Miniature. What a kick---a miniature of King Louie!! He is such a great little guy. Prince is learning to retrieve the Frisbee and tries real hard to take it away from his sister. Well, Prince is all grown up now and has done really well. He started his show career and became a Champion in 9 months. We went to the Premier in MI. and he kicked Ka Zoo’s butt twice!! He got a Group 4, which is very good. He just loves to go in the show ring and strut his stuff. It is really cute watching him out there with the big dogs. The terrier group was a big thrill for us. We actually had no idea what we were doing and I think that's what made it so much fun. Well, Prince ended up being the # 1 Rat Terrier. And, I think it has gone to his head. Now he walks around here like he owns us. Over the years we have had quite a few dogs that have placed high on the Top Ten List. I will not just put any dog in the show ring. I only want the best. And show far we have done that.

NBOB UFR USR GRCH King Pen Lost Echo

With 17 BIS and 7 RBIS’s under his belt. It has been a blast for Ray to show him. Echo has turned out very nice with many judges telling us that they can not find a fault on him and his movement is just beautiful.

Echo is a puppy out of Yahoo - YaYa  and Doodles that my husband just had to have. But he is very nice. HE has a wonderful personality and he really enjoys showing. He has done very well.

Echo also finished # 2 in 2007

He would have finished # 1 in fact he did but sometime in Feb. the # 9 dog lost 11 points and the # 2 dog gained 11 points. It just shows the ethics of some people and judges.

Very proud to announce that Echo finished #9 on the Top Ten List for 2006 with only 3.5 months of showing.

GRCH King Pen’s Ya Fiji

With the lose of YaYa we have decide to keep Ya’s daughter. Which it has been over a year and half since we have had one. I’m so glad I did. She is a little butt head. But I’m really enjoying her.

I believe in producing quality NOT quantity. Our dog's achievements have only proven that. By keeping their natural instincts, these dogs make amazing friends and wonderful pets. The personality of my dogs are just outstanding. They are quite a character and will keep you laughing and at times shock you. We have produced many Grand Champions and a few Champions. Some of the dogs that I have produce have accomplishments have been outstanding. They have not only been placed on the Top Ten list but have placed on the Top Ten Finals. Which no other Rat Terrier have ever been able to accomplish.

I have lots of pictures to show you. I have a page for each dog, so I can show you each dog's individual accomplishments, as well as how each dog is different in their own special way. I hope that you enjoy the web site. If you have any questions you can E-mail me rdraper@kingpenkennels.com Also, if I have made any mistakes please let me know.

We have now also expanded our Kennel with a close friends of ours and it will be our sister King Pen Kennels RnB. We both have the same goal, to produce the best quality Rat Terriers we can. We also consider ourselves to be hobby breeders. we strive to breed for conformation, for I believe that when you breed for conformation you will have a healthier happier dog in the long run.

We don’t breed our female dogs until they are 2 years old, if then. And we will only breed them once a year. If we feel that they are in perfect condition to be breed. And if we have the right male to breed too.

Yes there is a lot of show pictures and show talk but Ray and I have fun at it. It is our fun, but that is not the only things we do with our dogs. It helps you understand that you can have beauty and a working dog and a companion all in one dog. Yes, you can have it all! I know we do. They are “All in One Dogs”. Lets see how long it takes for someone to steal that saying from my web site. 7-18-050.
